A Time of Reckoning

Six games left, and 4 over the next three nights at home with the Pirates. They are 2 games back in 3rd and want more. It’s time to play our best ball of the season and take the Bucs to task. Let us not forget the Hounds trailing only 1 game in 2nd, they are going up against the Bulls for 4 games (the Bulls have given the Dogs a hard time this year also). Our destiny is in our own hands now. To be the champs of the regular season, we will have to show that we are over the next few days. There are also 2 games with the Bobcats to make up, but first the Pirates. Let’s give 110% and push the engine over max, and secure the pennant. We can do it, I feel it in my bones. We need all the Fan support to give their all, too. The 2009 Railroader Team Picture. with signatures, went into the “time capsule” this week. Let’s make sure people 50 years from now look at it and say, “Those guys brought Fulton a double title in 2009!” Fire it up, boys!

  1. Ouch, the sword hurts. And Friday and Saturday may be worse. Looks like curtains for our boys.

  2. Three teams, neck and neck, coming down the stretch! Doesn’t get much more exciting than that!

  3. WE got beat up all around last night, showed some spark, but the Pirates Pitchin crew shut us down as we struggled from the mound, but, I see a change of events for tonight and saturday night. That what makes baseball so cool, If we can keep from giving up the big inning, keep the mound under controll, our guys will Fire it up and take these next 2 games.Come on out to the yard fans, last weekend of regular season and its sure to be intense.

  4. ouch isnt the word...the bucs are the team to beat. they are on a roll and a mission. our guys dont seem to have the spark, they are flat and cant hit the ball. the bucs know how to hit we just go to the plate and watch. if you know you have a bad umpire you better protect the plate. to many got called out just looking.pitching well that another story.....like i have said before, if you dont want to wil and are just waiting for the last game you might as well pack it up. you have had loyal fans all year and the best crowds. dont let them down now..

  5. You hit the nail on the head about the fans,They are great in Fulton! Sure other teams have special nights and bring in large crowds, but as a average league count and dedicated fan base Fulton has others beat hands down.We have come from behind at other times---now is the true test, time for the cream to come to the top. Will it be the roaders or someone else??? I think Roaders!!

  6. For those who believe that the roaders are 'letting them down', they should realize that this teaam is filled with college kids... Kids who are not proffessionals. It is not like the roaders want to lose. For those people who choose to criticize this team, I emplore them to go to the field and ask to switch, I garuntee that whoever wrote that could not perform nearly as well as they have. I would say to those close minded people bashing 18 to 21 yr old kids, to be silent with their remarks and enjoy the rest of what has been a great season where EVERY railroader wants to be in first place!

  7. I just want to get one thing straight. When we lose ball games, there are always people who are going to say that we aren't giving it our best effort and not caring about where we end up in the standings. I don't see the New York Yankees winning every game. EVERYONE has bad games. Having a bad game doesn't mean that we don't care, or don't give effort. It makes me sick that people continue to hammer us on here. Yes we do appreciate the loyalty and the fans but when you get on here saying things like "pack it up," where's the loyalty in that? As a Railroader, I can tell you that EVERY Railroader wants to win the pennant as much as city of Futon. Instead of criticizing and degrading us, stand behind us and have a little faith in us. We'll do our part on the field and we hope to see you in the stands.

  8. Why does everyone criticize us railroaders cuz we lose a couple games? I dont think yall realize we are still tied for first in the league a pretty good accomplishment considering the talent in the league. Baseball is a game of failure, your going to lose. A guy in the majors that goes 3-10 at the plate is considered a great hitter. How about instead of bashing us after we lose a game yall show support instead of saying we have given up and should "pack it up and go home" or "it looks like curtains for our boys" how about yall gave it a good try, get after the next night. I dont know how many of you people critizing us have ever seen a 90mph fastball or an 80mph curveball but id like to see yall stand in there. Yall wouldnt stand a chance. Good pitching beats good hitting any day of the week its a proven fact. Look at mlb world series the team with the best pitching staff will win the world series. Look at the college world series this past year University of Texas has really good hitters but they got beat with good pitching. Show faith in your team Fulton and quit putting us down, its redicioulous how yall think we have given up and are ready to go home after we lose one game. Grow up.

  10. Can’t we all just get along? What a firestorm we’ve got going on here. Let’s just get back out to Yard and do what needs to be done. I know the Railroaders have what it takes to win and look forward to it! There’s 4 games left and the race is tight. We have the team to sprint to the finish. Players and Fans alike need to focus and we’ll do just fine. Let’s play some ball and cheer the players on!

  11. Another embarrasing night for the city of fulton. The team got embarrased in every aspect of the game. One player got an early exit and probably is pleased he didnt have to stick around. Maybe he wont come back. The team has fallen apart. How about next year!

  12. HAHAHAHA! I don't know who would write something like that; However I assure you that Justin Witt will be back tomorrow night. I also assure you that you could not do what these guys are doing and those kids would all appreciate you shutting your mouth and/or stop writing very stupid comments that make you and the rest of the fans seem unsupportive! Thank You for your support of the 2009 Railroaders!

  13. This internal bickering among fans and players only plays into the hands of our opponents. There are 3 more regular season games to play and the outcome is not set yet.

  14. the bucs want to thank you for the bp last night. is that all you guys have for pitching? we will be giving another lesson on hitting tonight if you dare to watch. there are videos on how to hit a baseball. that wooden stick you carry to the plate is what you hit the ball with.the guy that was your dh, he supposed to be a hiter? i almost signed with fulton, boy im glad i didnt.anyway thanks for the win, looks like its going to be us and uc. the really 2 best teams in the league.

  15. The Pirates were 2-4 against the Railroaders going into this series and went on a 10-16 slide before this win streak; not exactly a record that justifies the above posted comments if made by one of the Pirates. There is strength in humility and power in character. Arrogance and trash talk have a way of coming full circle. Hope you don't have to eat those words tonight. And by the way, Hoghead is right on!!!

  16. ok railroaders lets button down the pirates hatches so there is no escape tonight. lets silence their guns and do some high seas take over tonight. fire up the bats and throw some heat sink the jolly roger and take control of their ship.spong bob will be waiting in his pinapple at the bottom of the sea for those scally wags and put them to work for mr crabs serving crabby patties and swabbing the deck.

  17. NOTE FOR THE PLAYERS: A tie for first place creates a 1 game playoff between the two. Best head-to-head record does not determine 1st in the standings. Info source is league commissioner.
