Railroaders and Miners again at the Yard

What a waste of a grand slam in last night’s game in Hoptown that gave us a lead on the first place Hoppers! One has to question what is happening with our bullpen. I haven’t a clue, that’s all I can say. Although there was only one fielding miscue in the game, is there no confidence in our error prone defensive that our pitchers are trying to over compensate?

Well….on to the next game tonight at the Yard with visiting Madisonville. The Railroaders have fought three times with the Miners and we have lost every game with them thus far. Don’t you think it’s time for a change?

Our bats are improving and we are at least even at home with a 4-4 record. It’s safe to say we are due a win for sure.  The Miners are closely chasing the Oilers and Bombers in the second and third positions; they won’t go down lightly tonight. In fact, they probably figure it will be an easy win for them over the Railroaders.

A little bit of pride can go a long way, so let’s get some. Let’s play sharp! Let’s hit the ball! Let’s do what we know we can do, and play some baseball for crying out loud!

  10. Combination of many issues. Pitchers this season are making a lot of pitches (way too many walks)and when that happens your defense will make errors (you can count on that). Then, of course, they have to make more pitches and it's a vicious circle. Also, no timely hitting. Not all of the umpires fault but it sounds like hitters are swinging at pitches out of the strike zone because they are afraid to be called out on a pitch off of the plate. Can't go deep in counts with these umpires. It sounds like a guessing game but it's hard to blame the umpires when the visiting team has 10 runs and I lost count of how many hits. Hopefully, we get back to basics, pitch to contact and start making some plays for our pitchers. Also, we need to start being aggressive at the plate and on the bases. Good players on this team so I hope they start having some fun and turn this train around.

  11. I agree. But..... Pitchers need to trust their defense. If the trust isn't there pitchers start trying to paint the plate. Use pitchers where they were used for their college teams. Fulton has a pitcher who was only a starter for his school team but has not started a game this summer.

A pitcher must trust his defense

  12. Totally agree with you. However, you can't defense a walk so you have to pitch to contact even if your defense is kicking the ball all over the field (which ours have been) I'm certainly not trying to criticize the pitching. Baseball, to me, is the greatest team game but like I mentioned earlier any defense (even at the highest level) is back on their heels when we are making a lot of pitches. Also, it's funny how hitting will cure pitching and defense so hopefully we start hitting as well. A lot of things to fix but I believe it will come around. These guys are competitive and will hopefully not let this continue to happen.

    1. I do agree with you. Pitchers have a different mind set. Yes hitting does and will cure things. Tonight is great example of that. But when a pitcher has concerns with their defense they start to think to much and do not oitch to contact but pitch for strike outs. Bottom line the guys do want to win
Tonight could be the start of things with a come back win possibly

  16. Classless fans... Could hear through the radio. Booed players, then they would show then up when they would make a play. Radio guy does not know baseball but acts like he does. He hates on the Railroaders players and coaching staff. The coaching staff does a great job and knows the game very very well. The guys played hard and really fought. Its just hard to come through when the crowd and play by play and color commentators are against you.

  17. I happen to think the radio guys are honest with their comments. Yes you can hear the fans yelling good and bad. they pay money to get in and have the right to say what they want. the guys do play hard and I do not believe they are trying to lose games. my question is why does the team play up then all of sudden things go south? has the team done anything as a "TEAM" or are they left on their own to bond? do they practice on off days? I agree the pitching staff is not the greatest but do the errors behind them get into their heads? I do agree with the comments above. Pitchers are "flakes" the little things do get into their heads and they do try to paint the corners etc.. Things will get better

  18. Holy Cow, can you believe the injuries? Where is #8? What a healthy difference he could have been to this team. Two new players, both had to leave game sacrificing their bodies to make a play. Relax Chase, "you can do it". Would like to see a Coach at first base; saw interference by first basemen on our runners last two games and just wondering what the ground rules are on the number of players allowed in the bullpen.
