Time to settle down and play ball

Certainly fate played a roll in keeping us in the race for 2nd seed. We can’t count on the Oilers and Hounds to lose again to help us retain our position. We’re hurt and have several players out now for the season, but there are still quality players within the roster and it’s time to step up. Our defense has improved and can even the game when our pitching goes sour, but the bats must come alive if we are to secure that 2nd position. Clutch hits are what I’m talking about. I’ve seen every player in the current starting line-up do it before and know they can do it again. The Railroaders are due. It’s time to turn this train around and get back on the winning track.

Just a note on the umps; it is what it is and I think both sides received the same treatment. More over, the fans are frustrated with losing and I’m sure the players are even more so. Let’s pick up our Spirits, get back on the field and in the stands, let’s finish the season in grand style. We can overcome bad calls.

The race for second is as tight as it can be and we're not out of it by a long shot. I've foregone shaving today for a game face tonight. I think even Marlene is letting her arm pits grow out. If we can't scare the Pirates, nobody can!

  1. There's a lot of frustration, but look at the season, we just think we can show up and win. Thats the attitude, and attitude starts with leadership. If can pull through, but its hard when certain players and coaches have this better than they are attitude. We are not the top dog this year, we need to adjust.

  2. The fans have become brutal, and if our hometown fans aren't behind us, who do we have to play for? I mean its like were playing on the road every game because we dont have fan support. Its not like this town has ANY other attraction, can there not be more that a hundred people at a game, or is everybody else just sitting at home twiddling their thumbs?

  3. Please don't say the fans are brutal like no one is behind the players. That's simply not true. The ones who are getting brutal may be the only ones you hear, but there are a lot of us who are cheering the team on in spite of the losses. We will continue to do so until the end of the season and thru the playoffs. BTW, there are more fans (and good ones too)on an average basis in the Yard than in the other parks.

  4. I think management took care of the problem last night, and this is good. Both teams deserve to be part of game that is called by a good umpire, not an idiot, who wants to be noticed. But, the Pirates were good, and they deserve to be champs. We ought to let them know that tonight, because they have been good to us at their place, I hear,
