The incident at tonight's game is very unfortunate and not a good way to win a game. We pray the best for Hunter Nolen and his recovery. The Pirates should not let one man destroy their season or the team. We enjoy your play and hope to see you in the playoffs.

yes lets not let that unfortunate incident ruin your season or future. Lets play ball
ReplyDeleteThe event at Riverside Park was very unfortunate, and I agree, Tradewater is a classy organization, and handled it quite well. Hats off the announcer who tried to get teams back to the dugouts. Things can escalate, so this is the best approach. We hope the Pirates finish out the season, so let's make it happen.
ReplyDeleteBad way to win, but we were going to win that game anyway. We were starting to score runs and hit the ball and Chris had settled in after the 2nd inning and was back on target with his slider for a record strikeout game. Had 7 or 8 in 4 innings I think.
ReplyDeleteSad a player would do that to another teammate, no matter what the situaiton was, that is criminal and should be handled that way. There should be "0" tolerance for any behavior remotely close to that and if there were issues like that brewing on that team, it should have been addressed early on to avoid that kind of escalation. I wouldn't let the team management off so easy on this one, because they have a reponsiblity to protect those kids away from home playing summer ball from brutal battles emerging. Obviously this was something coming on long before this game and should have been nipped way before it blew up. Let that be a lesson for all the teams to be alert to these situations. Kids get tired, frustrated and don't like to be harrassed and if it is going on it needs to be addressed and dealt with. That player could have been killed or seriously injured for life. The game is dangerous enough without teammates going after each other. Players need to be removed from the teams and sent home at even the most minor of threats to other players.
I feel badly for the other players on that team for that situaiton to escalate to that point in a summerball game that has no meaning what-so-ever. No doubt one bad situation should not ruin what is otherwise a great experience for the players and fans, but it is clearly something that should be learned from.
Good luck in the playoffs.
DJ was ejected from the Union City game last Friday evening. A few weeks prior he threatened a player on another team. DJ is a very talented player but needs some counseling by a professional.
ReplyDeleteDJ has never been a team player and never will.He tried to take out a second baseman on a team a few weeks ago with his elbow and was ejected for 2 games. This was a downright assault on another person and i think he should be banned from any league period.he definitely needs some help and the baseball field is not where he needs to be.
ReplyDeleteTHE PIRATE ORGANIZATION IS A VERY GOOD ORGANIZATION.THEY HAVE DONE A WONDERFUL JOB ADJUSTING TO THIS LEAGUE AND TRYING TO FULFILL ALL OF THERE COMMITMENTS.THIS HAS BEEN BREWING A LONG TIME THROUGH OUT THE TEAM AND THIS KID(DJ) HAS BEEN GIVEN TOO MANY CHANCES.WE NEED TO MAKE SURE WE REMOVE VIOLENT THUGS LIKE HIM FROM ANY LEAGUE AND NOT LET THEM BACK IN.THESE KIDS ARE HERE TO STAY SHARP AND HAVE A GOOD EXPERIENCE AND LEARN THE LESSONS OF LIFE AS THEY GROW UP.WE NEED TO MOVE ON AND HOPE TO IDENTIFY THIS KIND OF PROBLEM BEFORE IT HAPPENS AGAIN.FULTON RR U HAVE A VERY GOOD ORGANIZATION AND HANDLED THE SITUATION VERY WELL.
