Chasing the dogs again . . .

Them doggies chewed us up some last night. The only difference between the teams was our players seemed somewhat indecisive, especially in the first part of the game. Maybe they were thinking about the arduous weekend ahead or the upcoming All Star game, who knows. I would like to address the weekend ahead, 6 games in 3 days. I know it will be rough, but if you love the game this will only be an opportunity to really show your toughness as a team, assuming you have it and I believe you do. The reward for playing as a complete team is very gratifying. As for the All Start game and who’s going or not . . . in my opinion it’s a more a game for individuals than team. As far as I’m concerned, it’s the Railroaders team that counts and we are still in great position to take first in the standings. We do that; we’ll have them doggies in our house for the playoffs. Yes, I think we’ll see the Greyhounds again, and we all would rather see it on our turf that theirs. Time to suck it up and get the job done.

One comment on Union City and Elam Stadium, I think it’s a cheap shot by the press box to play sounds up to the moment the visiting pitcher is in his windup. It doesn’t happen when their pitcher is on the mound. You may think this is petty, but it certainly isn’t well mannered. Says a lot about the supporting cast for the Greyhounds. By the way Greyhound players, good game last night!

  1. What does everyone think about our Allstars?

  2. I agree with all of them but I really think deep down that Kyle Bondy should have been chosen, hes our top and most consistant hitter.

  3. I agree on the playing music and it happens a lot of places, not just at Union City. If I were a pitcher I would just wait on the mound until it stopped before I would even take a sign. It is unsportmanlike to do that. But what is funny, it can screw up the batter just as bad as the pitcher, so maybe they don't relize that it might be hurting thier own players as well.

  4. There are always issues on selecting allstars. I don't think it is so important who is selected to play in the game, but I do think it is important and even nice to recognize the better talent in the league. So I would suggest a list of players as Allstars (perhap honorable mention) of all of the players that exhibited significant contributions to the teams success and then you can still have the a reduced list of players that can play in a game. That probably gets the players on the bubble that everyone keeps mentioning that should have made it.

  5. I'd agree with your comments. As a supporter of another team, my feelings are that UC is most ill mannered team in the league in several ways, and not very classy.
Tradewater tries to point out good plays by the opposition, and I like that. But UC? They stink it up. I like Sikeston, too, they keep the game up tempo.

  7. All of the players in this league are All-Stars. They would not be playing in the KIT league if they were not. I think the problem with the Railroaders is that you have selected 8 players as All-Stars and then the remainder become the NON-All-Stars. (That is just about half) Gee do you think that is the best thing to do when you are trying to finish the season out as a TEAM??? The first place team should determine the coach, but it should be represented by the same number of players from every team.

I know that this All-Star game will be a good promotion for the KIT league. Maybe the All-Star game should be played next year when the season is over?

I do agree with the input (vote) of the players for selection or maybe even fan votes or a combination (players, fans, coaches). (I know that could get a little too complicated!!)

From little league to professional level - All-Star selection is never easy and someone always gets left out that is very deserving of the recognition. I hope that the Railroaders will continue to pull together as a team on the field and in supporting our All-stars at the All-Star game.

Go Railroaders. It has been a great season. Don't let down now - keep rolling !! Lets make it a strong finish!!!!!

  8. The poor behaviour on the part of the UC fans and support doesn't stop at the UC city limits. When the Greyhounds were at Lohaus this week, they brought their sorry sportsmen fans with them. Even the beer deck (too much beer might excuse some of them) had crybabies on it!

I'm very proud our players, fans and support staff don't feel compelled to stoop to UC's level. We're way too classy for that.

    Go Railroaders!!
